What is Axol?
Axol is a dual-arm robot built for physical AI. It has two 7-DOF arms with 860mm reach and 6.5kg peak payload each, runs at a 500Hz control rate, and is deployment-ready out of the box with an open-source Python SDK.
How much does Axol cost?
Axol starts at $7,999 for the complete dual-arm robot, with mounting, cameras, and compute as configurable options. Every Axol includes two 2-finger grippers with swappable tips, a 1500W power supply, and the open-source SDK.
What can I use Axol for?
Axol is designed for contact-rich bimanual manipulation, robot learning and policy deployment, VR teleoperation and data collection, and manipulation research. Its two independent 7-DOF arms support a wide range of tasks or double the cycle time of a single-arm robot.
Does Axol work with LeRobot?
Yes. Axol ships with an open-source Python SDK and CLI that includes LeRobot bindings, a bimanual IK solver, a low-level CAN motor interface, ZED camera streaming, and a joint tuning toolkit — so you can collect data, train policies, and deploy them on the same platform.
How do I teleoperate Axol?
Axol supports WebXR VR teleoperation from any compatible headset. The teleop pipeline streams hand and elbow poses over WebSocket and has built-in data collection and recording modes for gathering demonstrations to train policies.
How long does shipping take, and where is Axol made?
Axol ships in about one week. Every unit is designed and assembled in Almond's workshop in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco, California.
What is Mantis UMI?
Mantis UMI is a handheld data collection gripper pair starting at $1,799. Mantis UMI is a pair of handheld data collection grippers with the exact same grippers as Axol. Collect accurate bimanual manipulation data in the real world, 10x faster than teleop. Axol not required. Data transfers directly to Axol.
What support and services does Almond offer?
Almond offers hardware customization (mobile base and lift integration, custom mechanical interfaces, arm spec updates, end-effector customization), a data collection service that delivers labeled manipulation data in LeRobot format, and on-site repair for SF Bay Area deployments.
