Goods-to-Person (G2P)

Goods-to-person is a warehouse fulfillment paradigm in which automated systems deliver inventory to stationary human pickers, rather than workers walking aisles to retrieve items. Implementations include mobile robots carrying shelving pods, popularized by Kiva Systems (acquired by Amazon in 2012 to become Amazon Robotics), shuttle-based automated storage and retrieval systems, and cube storage like AutoStore. G2P multiplies picker productivity and shrinks facility walking distances.

Why it matters for physical AI

G2P stations concentrate the remaining human labor into repetitive picking at a fixed workcell, exactly the structured, high-volume setting where learned robotic piece-picking is being deployed to close the automation loop.
