Precision Agriculture

Precision agriculture is the practice of managing crops and livestock at fine spatial resolution using GNSS guidance, remote sensing, and increasingly robotics, applying inputs such as water, fertilizer, and herbicide only where needed. Robotic embodiments include auto-steered tractors, drone-based crop monitoring, mechanical weeding robots, targeted micro-spraying, and harvesting robots for fruit and vegetables that combine detection with delicate manipulation.

Why it matters for physical AI

Agriculture offers vast unstructured outdoor environments, severe labor shortages, and per-plant tasks that demand robust perception and gentle manipulation, making it a proving ground for field-deployable autonomy.
