Foundation Models
RT-X
RT-X refers to the cross-embodiment robot policies, RT-1-X and RT-2-X, trained on the Open X-Embodiment dataset, a 2023 collaboration of more than 20 institutions that pooled over one million real robot trajectories from 22 embodiments into a unified format. The RT-X models outperformed the original models trained on each lab's own data, providing the first large-scale evidence of positive transfer across different robot platforms.
Why it matters for physical AI
Positive cross-embodiment transfer is the empirical bedrock of the generalist-robot-policy agenda, indicating that data pooled across heterogeneous robots compounds rather than conflicts.
