RViz

RViz is the standard 3D visualization tool for ROS, rendering live sensor streams, coordinate transform trees, robot models from URDF descriptions, point clouds, occupancy maps, camera overlays, and planning scenes in an interactive viewport. Interactive markers allow direct manipulation of poses and goals, making it both a debugging instrument and a lightweight operator interface, with RViz2 providing the equivalent for ROS 2.

Why it matters for physical AI

Seeing what the robot believes, including its frames, sensor returns, and planned motions, is how developers diagnose perception and planning failures, and RViz is the field's shared window into that internal state.

Build physical AI

Put these concepts to work on real hardware

Axol is a dual-arm robot built for physical AI — teleoperate it, collect demonstrations, and deploy learned policies out of the box.
