Unstructured Environment
An unstructured environment is a setting whose layout, objects, and conditions are not engineered or fixed for the robot, in contrast to structured industrial cells with fixtures, known part poses, and controlled lighting. Homes, hospitals, construction sites, farms, and disaster zones are canonical examples, presenting clutter, occlusion, deformable and novel objects, variable illumination, and people. Operating there requires perception-driven, adaptive behavior rather than replayed motions.
