Weed Control Robot
A weed control robot is an agricultural robot that detects and eliminates weeds using mechanical tools, targeted micro-spraying, or high-power lasers, guided by plant-level computer vision that discriminates crops from weeds. Commercial systems such as Carbon Robotics' LaserWeeder operate row by row, and precision targeting can cut herbicide use dramatically relative to broadcast spraying.
Why it matters for physical AI
Plant-by-plant weeding is a canonical perception-to-action task at field scale, demanding fine-grained detection, precise actuation, and all-weather reliability, and its economics are already competitive with chemical weed control.
