Fourier GR-1

The Fourier GR-1 is a full-size humanoid robot developed by Shanghai-based Fourier Intelligence (now Fourier), announced in 2023 as one of the first commercially available general-purpose humanoid platforms. The GR-1 stands about 1.65 m tall with roughly 40 degrees of freedom driven by the company's proprietary actuators, and has been adopted by research groups as a real-robot target for humanoid whole-body control and learning experiments; Fourier followed it with the GR-2.

Why it matters for physical AI

Commercially purchasable humanoids like the GR-1 lower the barrier for academic and industrial teams to test locomotion and manipulation policies on real full-size hardware rather than simulation alone.
