Spot Arm

The Spot Arm is Boston Dynamics' six-degree-of-freedom manipulator with an integrated gripper, mounted on the Spot quadruped to form a legged mobile manipulation platform. The arm supports door opening, valve turning, object pickup, and dragging, with whole-body control coordinating arm and legs, and can be teleoperated or scripted through Spot's SDK. It brought mobile manipulation to a commercially deployed legged robot in inspection and industrial settings.

Why it matters for physical AI

Legged bases extend manipulation to stairs and rough terrain that wheeled platforms cannot reach, and commercially fielded systems like this supply real-world lessons in whole-body autonomy.
