Unitree Go2
The Unitree Go2 is a consumer and research quadruped robot released by Unitree Robotics in 2023, weighing about 15 kilograms with 12 actuated joints, an onboard 4D LiDAR, and a starting price under 2,000 US dollars for the base model. Research-oriented EDU variants expose low-level joint control and support secondary compute, making the Go2 one of the most widely used platforms for legged reinforcement learning coursework and sim-to-real experiments.
Why it matters for physical AI
Cheap, robust quadrupeds with open low-level interfaces made legged locomotion research reproducible at scale, and fleets of such platforms now serve as testbeds for perceptive locomotion policies trained in massively parallel simulation.
